Markup Calculator

Turn a cost and markup percentage into a selling price. See gross margin too—markup and margin are different measures.

Markup Calculator

Markup is not margin. Markup is measured against cost; margin is measured against the selling price.

How this calculation works

Selling price = cost × (1 + markup %). Gross margin = profit ÷ selling price × 100.

Example

A 25% markup on $100 cost gives a $125 selling price; that is a 20% gross margin.

When to use it

Set a selling price from your cost and target markup before preparing a quote or invoice.

Frequently asked questions

Is markup the same as margin?

No. Markup is measured against cost; margin is measured against selling price. This calculator displays both.

Calculations are estimates for billing workflows. Check inputs and agreed terms before using results on an invoice.
