What is a purchase order?
A purchase order records a buyer’s order to a vendor or supplier.
When to use it
Use the buyer as the ordering party and the supplier as the vendor; include delivery timing and ship-to details.
Workflow: A purchase order is prepared by the buyer; an invoice is issued by the supplier. The conversion action swaps the buyer and supplier roles to make an invoice draft—check the parties, delivered items and agreed amounts before use.
