Suggested tax treatment NEEDS INPUT

Select a country and tax status to see a suggested tax setup. Suggestions never apply tax on their own.

Tax treatment can depend on registration status, transaction type and jurisdiction. Country presets are provided to help configure invoices and are not tax advice.

Why use the United Kingdom invoice generator?

Create professional UK invoices in GBP with VAT options, UK date formatting, optional VAT and company numbers, and UK payment details.

  • GBP formatting and DD/MM/YYYY-style dates
  • Optional VAT registration number and Company Number
  • VAT can be configured, included in prices, excluded, or left at zero

Country-oriented fields

This mode offers editable currency, date and tax labels alongside seller, customer, item, reference and payment fields in the shared invoice editor. Field availability is a starting point only; it does not establish that a document is sufficient for a particular transaction.

  • UK address and postcode fields
  • VAT registration status: VAT Registered or Not VAT Registered
  • Optional VAT Number and Company Number
  • VAT inclusive/exclusive arithmetic and zero-tax option
  • Account name, account number, sort code, IBAN and SWIFT/BIC fields

VAT controls

Select VAT Registered only when it applies to your business and transaction. No VAT rate is preselected; choose the rate and inclusive/exclusive treatment that apply. This tool does not determine VAT liability.

Payment details

Available payment method labels include Bank Transfer, BACS, PayPal, Payment Link, Cash, Custom Instructions. Add only your own payment instructions, account details or link; this site does not process payments.

How to create your invoice

  1. Check the selected country, currency and date format.
  2. Enter seller and customer details; use country-oriented fields only when relevant.
  3. Choose a tax label and enter a rate only after determining what applies to your transaction.
  4. Add line items, discounts, charges and payment instructions; review the live preview.
  5. Download the generated PDF or print separately, then keep a copy with your records.
This is an editable invoice starting layout, not a compliance certification. The tool does not determine legal or tax obligations, validate a tax rate or confirm that every required field is present.

Sources & Review

Last reviewed:

Checked the VAT-invoice references and country-mode wording against HMRC Notice 700 section 16 and the GOV.UK VAT rates page; suggested rates are verified figures to confirm, not a legal outcome. A source review is not an individual invoice review or a legal, tax or accounting assessment. Suggested rates are verified against official sources and applied only after you confirm them.

Frequently asked questions

Can this editor show an invoice with no VAT amount?

The editor supports a zero tax amount and a Not VAT Registered setting. It does not determine whether either is appropriate for your transaction; check current HMRC guidance.

Can the invoice show VAT inclusive prices?

Yes. Choose the tax-inclusive calculation mode and enter a rate you have independently checked for the transaction.

Can I add sort code and IBAN details?

Yes. Payment fields are optional instructions only; the site does not process transfers.
