Suggested tax treatment NEEDS INPUT

Select a country and tax status to see a suggested tax setup. Suggestions never apply tax on their own.

Tax treatment can depend on registration status, transaction type and jurisdiction. Country presets are provided to help configure invoices and are not tax advice.

What is a estimate?

An estimate communicates expected quantities and costs before work is complete.

When to use it

Use it when the final scope or cost may change; the document is clearly labelled ESTIMATE.

Next step: Once the scope and price are agreed, use Convert to Invoice to create an invoice draft from the estimate. Confirm any changes to quantities, rates, tax and payment terms before issuing it.

Estimate vs quote

An estimate is useful when quantities or costs are still provisional. A quote is usually a firmer proposed price. Label the document clearly as ESTIMATE so the customer does not treat a provisional figure as a final bill. Compare with invoice vs estimate.

What to include on an estimate

  • Seller and customer details
  • Expected line items with quantities and rates marked as provisional where needed
  • Notes on what may change (materials, hours, site conditions)
  • A validity window and how acceptance will work

Key fields

  • Estimate No: and the date fields appropriate to this document.
  • Business and counterparty details, with country and currency settings where relevant.
  • Document-specific rows and optional notes, references or terms.
  • Status choices: Draft, Sent, Accepted, Declined, Expired.

How to create one

  1. Review the editable example and enter the parties, reference and dates.
  2. Add or adjust the document rows; confirm quantities, amounts and country settings when relevant.
  3. Review the document-specific preview, then download the PDF or use Print.

Frequently asked questions

When should I use an estimate instead of a quote?

Use an estimate when costs or quantities are still provisional. Use a quote when you are proposing a clearer price for acceptance.

Can I turn an estimate into an invoice?

Yes. Once scope and price are agreed, use Convert to Invoice, then confirm any changes to quantities, rates and terms before issuing.

Is an estimate legally binding?

That depends on the wording, jurisdiction and agreement—not on the document label alone. State clearly that figures are estimates when they are provisional.

Is this estimate generator free?

Yes. Create, preview and download estimates in the browser without signup for the core editor.
