What is a receipt?
A receipt records money actually received; it is not an invoice or payment request.
When to use it
Show the payer, payment date and method, payment reference and amount received.
Workflow: Create a receipt only after you have received money. The invoice generator can prepare a receipt draft from an invoice when you enter an amount received; this site does not collect or verify payments.
Receipt vs invoice
An invoice asks for payment. A receipt records that money was received. Never issue a receipt for funds you have not confirmed. For partial payments, show the amount received and leave the invoice balance visible. See invoice vs receipt and invoice to receipt.
What to include on a receipt

- Payment date, method and reference
- Amount received (and currency)
- Related invoice number when applicable
- Remaining balance if the payment was partial
